I support the mentioned improvements to the park. After more than a year of COVID-19, parks are a fabulous investment for our community to begin our healing process. Any of the suggested enhancements would improve the experience, aesthetic, and usage Madison Park.

My wife, Mary Brown, and I support the continued investment in Madison Park (and in particular the area of the court). For specific amenity suggestions (gathered from community residents) please refer to the recently submitted addendum letter (also attached below) by the Madison Court Block Party, in partnership with the LOBC, Laura Rodriguez and others. We would also like to see additional investment in the court mentors program both at Madison Park and Lakewood Park, as well as continued and additional support (and city council presence) at the Saturday Block Parties held at Madison Park Court every Saturday through October. We are happy to work together with other area organizations (like the FOMP) and expect the the city to follow through with their publicly stated interest in developing this space and investing in community-led programming.

I also support the added amenities and over all upgrading of the park that is referred to in this letter. These additions will only draw more folks out to the park and in turn create a safer environment that utilizes every aspect of the park through programming and community interaction.

I support additional park amenities as well as expanding further to a total park redesign. Madison Park has seen upgrades throughout the years but the line of sight and lack of programming need to be addressed collaboratively between the city and citizen lead groups. Improving line of site and programming are proven to reduce crime. Many neighbors around Madison Park, invested community members as well as those civically involved are all discussing this already. I think what is in this letter is a perfect start and then we plan, design, and expand.
