4. RESOLUTION 2024-12 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise to take effect at the earliest period allowed by law, to adopt the Madison Park Master Plan. (Introduced 2/20/24 and referred to HPD & PC)
I am in support for the Madison Park Master Plan, especially the plans to build a bike park/pump track. The pump track will be a fantastic addition for people of all ages, offering a safe and designated space for bike riders to practice their skills and enjoy the thrill of riding. It'll bring a sense of adventure and excitement to Madison Park, attracting more visitors and fostering a vibrant atmosphere. Just look at the success the MetroParks has had with the recent buildout of the Cleveland Cliffs Steel-supported Bike Park on East 49th Street in Cleveland- go there on any nice weather day and the place is buzzing with families enjoying the new facilities. I think its time for Lakewood to become the crown bike riding town in the state, and it could all start with this investment in bike culture.
The public commons are an important asset to a community. High quality, attractive, useful places to gather across Lakewood where community members feel welcome and safe are an investment I am so glad to see our city make.
Madison Park is the cornerstone of ward 4 and a tremendously important public asset. The proposed improvements will serve Lakewood residents for years and improve the quality of life for everyone in the area.
