Tree Advisory & Education Board Annual Update

I ask the committee to support preserving trees on Bunts Road. The current plan is to use taxpayer money to remove a perfectly good concrete sidewalk and replace it with a less durable asphalt path that only lasts on average half as long as concrete. The plan also calls for the removal of every tree along the west side of the street (about 100) to make room for this asphalt path. These established trees clean the air that we breathe, soak up excess stormwater, increase our home values and provide traffic calming and shade. Using taxpayer money to rip them all out and then replant with saplings that will take decades to provide the same value is short-sighted and wasteful. Most of the trees on the east side of the street are projected to survive the road renovation and sewer replacement. Please eliminate the shared-use path so that most of the trees on the west side of the street can be preserved as well. Bob Rensel, 1230 Bunts
