13. RESOLUTION 2024-04 – A RESOLUTION to join with states, municipalities, and other jurisdictions around the country to designate February as Black History Month in the City of Lakewood, Ohio by celebrating African-American culture and paying tribute to the contributions of African-Americans. (pg. 68)
Black History is not just BLACK history but IS American History. Black contributions matter and our culture is important to overall American culture and has and does inform and influence. There is still so much that is to be learned. I want to encourage every citizen and especially our leaders and leadership to not just learn and continue to learn Black History but to SUPPORT Black in Lakewood and beyond. Support businesses, organizations, groups, causes and people that play an important role in the fabric of our community(ies). The Black activists, artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, business owners, and more that live, work, and play here. Support, uplift, and elevate.
