Howdy! While the number of people willing to walk or bike for transportation when it's cold outside is relatively low, as the weather gets nicer, the need for safe bike and pedestrian infrastructure is much more obvious. With spring upon us, people are coming out of hibernation, reveling in that sweet, sweet vitamin D laden sunshine. Along our commercial corridors, we have countless problem spots where cars and delivery vehicles block visibility for all road users, whether these vehicles are parked legally or not. I would like to urge the city to reassess our parking laws so that our intersections are cleared and there are designated delivery zones rather than having trucks park wherever they want, willy nilly. This is an urgent matter of public safety. Please implement changes immediately before someone is hurt or killed.

Hello there, my name is Fermin. I live roughly a 15 minute bike ride south of Lakewood. I'm a bike commuter who uses Bunts to commute to Lakewood for errands, work, or social recreation. I do not own a car by choice for health and financial reasons so my primary mode of transportation is by bike.

Thank you for green lighting this project as it helps people like us who use active transportation through choice or have no choice.

From my personal experience going through bunts I've had many close passes by impatient reckless drivers, this project would make it far safer for active transportation commuters by seperating dangerous automobiles from vulnarable road users using the multi use path.

Another benefitial side effect of this project is it would encourage less car use to get around which in turn reduces pollution caused by exhaust fumes, tire particles which pollutes water and dirt, also lessen the road damage that's caused by the volume of multi ton automobiles passing through.
This in turn also makes it cheaper for the city to do maintenance since less damage is done.

Furthermore the installation of the multi use path would benefit public health as commuters would gain passive exercise just by going from point A to B to do whatever they need or want to do, this would improve cardiovascular health combating heart disease caused by sedantary lifestyles.

All these benefits will be amplified and grow as more and more of these green street initiatives come to fruition, so once again I thank Lakewood city council for this project and encourage council to continue to push for more future green projects like this as it helps the people, our wallets, and our Earth.

After watching public comments on the last council meeting I wanted to chime in for support of the Bunts Road project, specifically that the path is separated from the traffic. I'm a Lakewood homeowner/mom who isn't a super confident bike rider but I really enjoy it for local trips and family time with my daughter & husband. The characterization of bike riders mainly as expert riders who are comfortable riding in traffic or only travel at high speeds without regard for pedestrians was frustrating for me to see and stuck with me for a few days. Instead of an expert rider, please think of a casual rider. Or a mom with a toddler in a bike seat on the way to the park (that one is me). You want to put that family straight in traffic with the crazy drivers on Bunts? That's wild to me. I think the majority of bike riders are casual riders, who would do a lot more of it if there were more protected options that physically separated us from aggressive and distracted drivers. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has been working on this project. Please please please do something to make the intersection of Hilliard and Madison safer next. Sincerely a resident on Carabel.

I would like to thank council and Mayor George for moving forward on the Bunts Road infrastructure project. The great weather we have had recently makes it very obvious that the community wants and needs more of these projects that prioritizes safe and active travel and recreation for our pedestrians and children. The parks have been busy, the sidewalks are full with kids commuting to and from school and the bike lanes, that many claim do not get used, have seen plenty of cycling traffic. The demand for more of these projects exists and the community is overwhelmingly in support. I would ask that you please continue to take bold progressive action on more of these projects knowing you have the support of the community. Thanks again.

I would like to once again express my support for the Bunts Road Rehab project, to include the proposed multi-use path. This project provides all road users more equitable access to Lakewood amenities and businesses as well as an important connection for other routes around and through the city. Thank you for working towards keeping our roads safer for all who travel them no matter how they may do so. Everyone deserves a safe route to and from their home, and this project helps prioritize that.

I would like to thank the administration and city councils for their continued support of a more walkable and bikeable Lakewood. These efforts will help cut down on pollution, noise, and create a safer environment for all road users. I look forward to projects such as the Bunts Road mixed use path which is a great thing to have next to a high school and the Clifton Connector which will make it safer and easier to bike or walk into Rocky River.

I would like to thank the mayor for pointing out that the public notice concerning the Bunts Road Project did in fact mention bicycle lanes. The notice does not mention a ten foot wide multi purpose lane.
