Oppose the use of asphalt at driveway crossings for the Bunts Road multi-modal path.

Lakewood Codified Ordinance 903.07 prohibits asphalt for sidewalks based on durability and safety concerns. While the City classifies the path as not a "sidewalk," at driveway crossings it functions as one within the public right-of-way and is subject to the same vehicular loading. Using asphalt in this context is inconsistent with the ordinance and creates foreseeable risks of deformation, potholes, and increased maintenance.

Residents have a right to preserve the integrity of their concrete driveways and should not have a lower-performing material introduced at the point of connection. The City should provide a clear legal basis for deviating from Ordinance 903.07 and the engineering standards that justify asphalt use under repeated vehicular loading, including defined long-term maintenance responsibility.

Bunts Road residents, who have invested in durable concrete driveways, respectfully request protection of their property integrity and property values.
