I urge the council to support this ordinance protecting the health and safety of its residents from unjust prosecution. Refusing to enforce an odious law criminalizing medical decisions is the very least you can do.

As a resident and mother of two children, I support this ordinance limiting enforcement related to abortion care. Health care is a private matter between a person and their provider. Abortion is health care.

I wish to express my full support for proposed Ordinance 20-2022. While it is disheartening, to say the least, to live under the rule of a Supreme Court that feels empowered to strip away a basic human right from over half the population, we can all take encouragement from a local ordinance such as this one. I am proud to help raise my two daughters in a community that does respect their dignity and their human rights, and I am hopeful to see this reflected in passage of Ordinance 20-2022.

Thank you Lakewood for taking a stand. I feel like our city government is the last line of defense for our own decisions regarding our health, and those whose mission it is to erase our body sovereignty.
