2. ORDINANCE 20-2023 - AN ORDINANCE to take effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, authorizing and directing the Director of Planning and Development or the Mayor to enter into an agreement with a licensed real estate broker to market for sale various real properties, pursuant to Section 155.07 of the Codified Ordinances. (1st read & referred to HPD 9/18/23; 2nd reading 10/2/23)
As the adjacent neighbor to 1369 Westlake Ave, I encourage Council to pass ordinance 20-2023. For the past 15+ years, I have been in contact with City officials regarding this vacant property and my desire to possibly purchase it and maintain it as a green space without a housing structure. I appreciate the City's decision to not build a housing structure on this lot. Another housing unit would only add to the congestion on our narrow street and parking issues due to lack of driveways and multi-family homes. Additionally, the Trinity Project is certain to add to the congestion on our southern section of Westlake Ave. I would like to see 1369 Westlake Ave remain a green space and encourage Mayor George, Director Leininger, and City Council to entertain offers that commit to maintaining it as such.
